Applied Arts
The Applied Arts curriculum begins with safety as students develop foundational skills in introductory power tools, such as the drill press, bandsaw, scroll saw, and hand tools, such as the handsaw, speed square, combination square, and torpedo level. Students also enhance their proficiency with handling hand tools like the hammer, hand plane, sandpaper, and various measuring instruments. In their second year, students tackle more intricate projects, working individually and collaboratively on team projects using advanced tools like the Sawzall, Power Sanders, and Micro-Pin Nailers. The culmination of their learning experience might involve a capstone, such as creating a scale model house or contributing to a school project.
